Baller 😂 76' C10 Cheap Toy

Hey I have been working on this a little here and there. Was having delays waiting some things.
I didn’t have the stand height tool and although I know you can manage to get them on and working I wanted them set per Jesel. So I ordered the tool and a set of their shims. Got those earlier this week and was about to set all that up and work on pushrod length. Oh also had to order some new wire stands that align the stands as these used ones had a couple bent to shit. These came yesterday. But work started calling and with the shop coming together it’s about all I have actually done.
Working on my gears being setup and they should be ready any day. Also I did get my transmission completed.
I have spent some of my truck time working on my nephews truck we did a transmission swap in it but the damn thing had a issue so had to pull it back out and I ordered a new transbrake for it. I ordered my head gaskets at the same time so I will be getting close to finishing the motor soon. Damn Cometic head gaskets $216.00 😡

My head gaskets are supposed to arrive today also. I got the SCE coppers that are coated so you're not supposed to have to use any sealer or anything, we'll see if that's true or not.

I really didn't know what way to go copper was on my mind as the obvious choice. My heads have the wire rings in them. But locally no one was putting the receiving groves in the blocks. I was told more than once that there was no need and basically refused to do it. Their reason was technology in gaskets had made it unnecessary. One guy I think was just being lazy the other shop I always thought they were strait shooters. :shrug:Then I did some research and a lot of folks were running a MLS gasket. Pretty much said fuck it and called Cometic for their exact recommendation. They came up with this part number H2193SPBF040S and a story that I wont find this part number anywhere, not their website and not Summit, Jegs, etc. Sorry if I said this already but they weren't BS'ing. They told me I had to have them call Cometic and give them the number they gave me. I thought that was pretty crazy a .030 over big block Chevy gasket was so "secret" or unlisted per say. Surprised me as I figured that a BBC gasket for some boost would be listed. Tells ya what I know.

See I've read some stuff that says the Cometic MLS is just fine for mild to mid-boosted engines. Couple other guys I've talked to said anything over 15-16 lb to go to copper and o-rings. 🤷

SOB I wish they would make up their minds. One thing for sure if I have a single issue I will have copper on it if I have to buy the damn $350 tool and do it myself. I told Cometic I figured the most (on a guess) that I would see is 25lbs. ProCharger wasn't a lot of help on what they thought it would actually do on my combination. But its possible to put as much as 36lbs they say. Hopefully Cometic got it right. Ill stick with my slower pulley and may order a slower one for starting out if it is putting up over 25lbs.

Yeah I have no fucking clue on cylinder pressures but what bore is yours? I'm at 4.600 bore.

My problem is going to be keeping head gaskets in it with a 4.600 bore

Greedy baller issues had to go for that big bore monster didn't ya. I bet it will survive. If not I bet you can figure it out. If you get sick of it just ship it to me Ill make a home for it here. :ROFLMAO: I hope to eventually get to a 4.50 bore. I like the 540 its just a good solid proven bore n stroke combo. It can take boost.

Quite contrary my friend, it's called being poor and having to reuse what you had! 🙈

Well I know no one will believe me but all my shit is reused shit. Sometimes it saves me a lot sometimes not so much. :larf:
I would have been money ahead just building a complete new engine and then I wouldn't have torn apart a fresh 582 also

I butchered on a dash to see how it would fit around the cage. I think it will be fine once its had some massaging.

Well since I had been waiting for a while on the head gaskets from Cometic I had some questions and called them back. So now they have changed my head gasket to one I leave the O-ring in my head no receiver grove in block style. What ever that is. They claim I will have these in a couple weeks.
Head gaskets part number:
New # H1582SP2040S
Old # H2193SPBF040S
I did get the cam degreed in with help from my brother we got it very close to what they wanted. Was supposed to be on 118 we got it to 117.75 and called it a day.

Yes the joys of removing the floor pans has started. Its a work in progress. Eventually if I keep plugging away it might get there.
