So the block was bored and I have acquired everything to assemble the short block. I took the crank yesterday to have the 2nd keyway cut into it. Also the crank pulley that came with my ProCharger was originally for a ford. So the 6 bolt pattern on my balancer did not match up with the ford pattern. Also the hole in the center of the pulley has no way to center, also it has a larger hole than the hole on the balancer. That requires a adapter to center the pulley to the crank and 6 new bolt holes. The same machinist doing the keyway is going to fix this for me as well.
The plan is once I get this crank back I hope to have the rings gapped and will be taking things to be balanced.
I thoroughly cleaned and painted the oil pan. Checked and measured to make absolutely sure the Moroso oil pump height will be correct with my pan. And it appears to be perfect. I then realized I will have to have the Moroso oil dip stick threaded bulkhead welded into it. Also a return oil line fitting from the ProCharger will have to be installed.
I am thinking of using a hydraulic roller cam. It’s the one engine component I haven’t nailed down as of yet. I need/want it to turn 6500rpms and I keep hearing that might be a issue with a hydraulic.

I have several cams I can choose from that we have but they are all solid roller cams. So far the two cam recommendations I called and got I wasn’t thrilled about but I am sure would work. I may check a few other cam companies offerings.
Today I did get the block I had bored out and unwrapped. Put on a engine stand and spent a hour or two deburing it. Cleaned it up enough to put a quick coat of high temperature black paint on it.
The truck is still on schedule for October at the fab shop to get a full cage installed. We discussed options on things I may need. I wasn’t really thinking about a parachute but he seems to think its probably gonna need it. Also I was just going to use solid motor mounts but he also strongly suggested motor plates.
