Baller 😂 76' C10 Cheap Toy

Just to keep it documented in this thread I posted this in the what you did to your car today thread already.
Adjusted all the rockers, and put the intake on today. We plan to oil prime it hopefully tomorrow. Might get it to the run stand and work on cranking it to check out the engine for leaks and some basic going over before putting it in the truck and mounting the ProCharger.

I always forget to post in that thread

No work on my truck today. Helped my brother with a big block project he was playing with. He built this for his bracket bomber 69 C10 long bed. We just put it on the run stand cranked it up to check it out for any issues before installing it in his truck.

But I did get my front motor plate in for my truck.

Didn’t do much. I took the carpet out and layed it in the truck. Its been across my kitchen table for a couple days. 😂 Anyway I wanted to make sure it was the correct piece and see what it would look like. Man what a simple piece of carpet can do to change a look. 😇 Currently Im waiting on some door sill plates from a friend. And then Ill have everything to put most of the cab back together inside.

Finally got my motor on the run stand and busted it off. Didn't do much only adjusted the timing really quick. I forgot I didn't have any breather holes in the valve covers @Bangr yet and didn't have my old ones with me. :banghead: Monday I will take some old covers to the shop just to run it a little more after going back over the lash.
Anyone know if Cometic MLS head gaskets need retorqued after initial running? Ill call them Monday just to make sure probably.
I have to say it has a very different sound than I'm accustomed to and expected. But I had a big shit eating grin on my face to hear it.

Wooooooo

Well that was a small mistake not having any ventilation. Cost me a front timing cover seal. 😟 Maybe not it could have just been a leaker. 🤷🏻‍♂️
Anyway got a new one in it now and no more oil leaks. I loaded it up and brought it home.

Hopefully I can get the mid and front motor plates on it without issue and try and get this all setup in the truck Friday.
I also got me a new lower steering shaft. Seems (from the internet) this is a great upgrade. You get one off a early 90s Jeep Cherokee and it has the correct splines and all. It deletes the rag joint and cleans up the look. Also supposedly tightens up the steering removing slop of factory C10 design. I bought a new one off Amazon to try it.

Still need a new or rebuilt steering box. I need to get this on the way.

Love this tip. I'll pick one up for my Square

Do your research. I've read so much back n forth on it that it is almost confusing. Not to mention it appears the C10 aftermarket has started marking them up and selling them as a fancy upgrade. Most of the guys I was reading were just getting them from wrecking yards for next to nothing.

I placed mine up on my truck and its a easy 2" too long. Easy fix Ill just cut the bottom knuckle off and take out the needed amount off the lower end of that shaft and reattach the knuckle. I didn't like the idea of heating the collapsible part to shorten it. That is what many are doing though as it is easy and it cant really go anywhere.

Trying to make some progress. It’s setting in there temporarily while I sort out where I actually need and want it to sit. So many things to consider. 🤔

Didn’t start out well though. I couldn’t get it back far enough to get midplate in. These frames are narrow around the engine.

Some trimming and it’s amazing how that dropped right in.

Finally got the weight on it. Man I still have a lot of stuff to add. Might be dragging the ground when I put that procharger on it. 🤣

Slowly getting there tons of stuff to do. Back at it fellas. 👍🏼

Did a little painting on the dash and kick panels. wanted to see what that color looked like. It was supposed to be a dark gray. That maroon dash gives it a red look. 🤷🏻‍♂️ And I was tired of everything looking like it was sanded. 😂
I hate to start cutting the carpet. Cutting it to fit tightly around the cage is important to me but not sure where to start cutting. Its one of those things I could and should have done already. But because I don’t feel confident I won’t make a mess of it I am procrastinating.

Also got the front motor plate to actually fit in the truck and bolt up to the engine. Obviously I need to trim the excess still.

A little progress is better than none I guess.

Hit that frame with some oven cleaner and the pressure washer you damn heathen! 🤣
Its not time to clean yet. I'm still making the mess. All this comes out at least one more time.
Come to think of it. Can you send one of those women you keep finding that have spare time flapping their mouth. I need someone to do some cleaning. ;)
