Baller 😂 76' C10 Cheap Toy

Just saw there wasn't much for Darren to update and so I decided to just hit this with a brief update.

I have been tinkering with it. Mounted the shifter, a switch panel, and a rear view mirror. Installed the only two rear pieces of door sill plates I have. Guess I am ordering the front pieces. I'm in line to have several things done with the fab guy when I can get it in.

Backing up a little. When I purchased this ProCharger I knew it needed a bracket for a Big Block Chevy. It came with a Ford bracket so I contacted ProCharger folks who informed me of the stupid bracket by sending me the picture below.

Yeah you saw that $819.00 for a stupid bracket. So anyway my fabrication guy said it wasnt a problem he could easily build me a new bracket for way less. Of course the only issue with that is I am trying to get stuff done that I can do, so he only has to do stuff that I cant do. Anyway he will be building my bracket as I refuse to spend almost $900 on a stupid bracket that is really 2 pieces of aluminum with holes in them. I have the spacers and idler stuff off the Ford bracket.

OK so besides that bracket I need the front two legs of the cage that come from the firewall to the frame bent and put in. We intentionally waited on these so we could mount the ProCharger and make sure we don't have to remove the leg of the cage and redo it.

Third thing was, and this was his suggestion, is a parachute mount. I wasn't thinking I needed one and still not sure I do but his logic was let me do it while its in here so you don't have to wait on me if you decide you need it. That makes sense so I will probably let him do that part.

If anything notable happens I will update here. That is pretty much it for now besides working and it been pretty miserable temperature wise.

That's an expensive fuckin bracket.
Yeah I didn't even get into the fact that I found that out from ProCharger right after I got the blower. So about a week ago I stumbled across this $150 bracket at www.brutespeed.com

So I email them and ask if there is a chance that bracket would work for my blower. They replied no it was different but this $483.24 one would work. I studied that one thinking dammit $500 for a bracket. While studying it it doesn't look right and doesn't mention any D3 blower. I questioned him about it and he researched a little more and came back with the same damn $900 bracket assembly ProCharger said.

I don't know why they think that two pieces of aluminum is worth so damn much because other than that idler assembly its nothing but a few bolts and some spacers cut from a some 1" or so aluminum tubing. I know there has to be a way to get the aluminum brackets that bolt to a big block that fit my blower like the $150 set. I do not need the idler and a pile of hardware. But everyone just starts trying to sell the entire assembly.

I would order the aluminum off eBay and make them myself but its on the front of the motor and I would prefer it didn't look like a beaver chewed them out. I did look and can have the aluminum for around $100 but I don't have any tools to make them pretty, a angle grinder, and a hand held drill aren't exactly precision tools.

You can use a router on aluminum and bevel it up pretty damn good. I know a lot of guys that do it, hell Johnny dart uses a router for all of his aluminum work.

I would put it out on racing junk looking for big block Chevy D3 ProCharger brackets and put it all over Facebook or if you don't have Facebook have somebody you know do so and I bet you come up with a used set.

Any updates on the truck?
Well some parts have been showing up. And I have most of the cash to get the fab guy to finish my cage, make my pro charger bracket, and the parachute mount. Its just been slow scratching up the cash. Not to mention its been hot as hell.

I have came to the realization I won’t be making a pass this year. But I’m really hoping to be at the track when the gates open 2024.

Thanks for asking.

I'm sick of all the political threads. These build threads keep me sane!

I can agree with that 100%.
I get in the political shit and then take a break myself. It’s easy to get lost in the shit. So hard to imagine some people still don’t grasp what you and I see. Oh well I put my .02 in and call it a day.
Build threads are so damn expensive these days. I just have so many irons in the fire. I believe this is my biggest problem. Ive spread my $1.50 allowance over to many projects. Now I cant seem to finish any of them.

I can definitely relate. Between the new garage build (not finished), trailer (not finished), and car, (never finished). The money goes faster than you can make it!

You said it almost exactly like my situation. New garage build (not finished), trailer (not finished), and truck, (never finished). The money goes faster than you can make it! I’ve got house remodeling and I just screwed the rear bumper up on my daily truck. :(

You guys and your fancy rides!!

I see they let Gilligan up on the main deck and gave him a break from peeling potatoes. They even let the poor fucker on the internet! 🤣

I called (actually texted) my fab guy today. I am officially back in line to get my front bars in and have him make me a ProCharger bracket. Probably get the parachute mount made while its there. I didn't text much with him but I asked if he had a idea about how long the waiting line was. He said let him think on it and he would get back to me. So I'm guessing that means he is either going to try and work it in between some of his bigger jobs or he just has so much work piled up he has no idea. :larf: Either way I know he will get it when he can and I am on the list.
I'm anxious to hear that blower make noise. :layrubber:

Still waiting on him to say bring it. He stays busy and this is not his full time job. To get race car work done by him you have to get on the list and wait. When he gets to you he calls or texts ya to bring your car. I planned to touch base with him this week and see if I am a month out or more. Just so I have a idea of when its going. Yeah so basically I don't know shit. :larf: :larf: :larf: :pop:

Still waiting to get truck in to fab guy.
My dash was in pretty bad shape and the wrong color. I might have went new but they are expensive and I still would have had to notch each end for the cage. So I took it upon myself to try and fix my dash. With YouTube as my source for inspiration what could possibly go wrong. :ROFLMAO:
I intentionally covered the speaker and AC vents. I can still open the defrost openings if I decide to later. Anyway my first ever dash repair.:larf:
