Send it to Patriot Racer's weight loss clinic.
Oh I know why its heavy. But I wanted it to be like a truck. When I get in I feel like its a decent old truck. I put carpet in, all new door seals, new sill plates, passenger seat, passenger harness, recovered the dash, has door panels all the window crank mechanisms, etc. I could really easily with not spending a dime get a hundred off maybe more.
I’m trying to run NA. These guys just turn up the boost. Much easier.
I 90% agree with its easier to a extent. Still have to apply the power though. And not hurt parts. We all know a heavier vehicle with a lot of power will show some weak links really fast.

Its 3854lbs in post 562

Woke up this morning knowing I will be testing tonight. I think I was more excited 28 years ago, the last time I was racing. I'm not counting a one off evening in someone else ride making a hit. Track days were always super busy exciting fun days for me, I’d forget all my other stuff like work, money, and wife issues etc., today I don’t feel anything, Well not anything like this is going to be fun or like finally getting to that awesome fishing spot you saw a long time ago. 🎣 :larf:
Last night I made a list, I felt old just trying to make sure everything is done and I don’t forget anything. Made me feel a little stupid in a way. I never made lists before I just knew what had to be done and what to bring. Before long I’m gonna have sticky notes all over and inside the truck with reminders what to do.
Maybe arriving at the track this evening things will change. If not I must not have made enough motor to get me hyped up I suppose. :p Or possibly its that spot on my forehead where that tree branch tried to kill me while cleaning up the back yard 2 days ago and there is still a knot and a hole. :lmao:

Hey I probably wont do more than a 1/2 track pull unless things are just working flawless. My stuff is never flawless so I am keeping expectations low. Anyone want to guess what a crappy 60ft it might do first day out?

Oh good God, quit typing and post results 🤣🤣

Boo for the weather. Two thumbs down. Would not recommend.

Holy fuck that was depressing. One of the only guys building something and you pooped out. 😞
Its all good I was just expecting to be more excited today. Woke up and it was just bla.
That's a bummer

It is. The day started out ok my new driving pants were suppose to be here before leaving to race. They showed up early I was happy till I tried the 2X on and they were tighter than my 1X pants I had. :rolleyes2:

Sadly it was suppose to be nice weather and get a little windy. As the day went on it got more windy then really cloudy and cool. I get to the track about 4:45 and there is a extremely fine mist. I knew there was a 30% chance of rain but who thinks 30% is at the damn race track. Anyway I unload the truck.

First thing is I put it in park and the truck still rolls back like a foot off the ramps. Apparently I wasn't off them all the way but why did it roll while in park. I have triple checked that shifter as I had a issue when I first installed it not shifting 100% every time from 2nd into 3rd because I didn't have it adjusted perfectly. I now have to check that again.

Second thing that happened was I took it down the return road to just warm everything up a little. I get to the end and find a area I can do a little test hit. I just give it a good 1/2 to 2/3 stab in first gear and the truck noses up to Heaven. I was totally surprised it got enough traction to do that. I planned dbl adjustable shocks are next for the front.

I get back and the truck is running a little off. Something is off motor wise. Not sure yet what it is exactly but later this week we will investigate further. I loaded it back to go help my brother and friends with their stuff and they shut the track down as the extremely light mist was damn near a sprinkle now.

The positives are that blower works! It came on quick. When I lifted (the hood was off) I could see the blow off valve dump big time. I guess it had condensation or mist on it as I saw what looked like a fine spray for a split second come off it. Also the transmission definitely has 3 gears. The brakes work very good. Steering is decent. I was wondering how the quick ratio box I put on it would feel. The converter at this point seems like it might still work for a minute before I have to have it adjusted to be more on target. So all was not a loss. Of course I was far from a full throttle hit so the converter could still be way off and the transmission could slip in 2nd or high. But we are trying to be positive.

I have sent back 3 pairs of pants. I finally gave up. I’m using the ones from last year that fall off. I’m just going to get some suspenders.

Sounds like the track wasn’t a total loss. You already uncovered some issues that you are addressing.

Great Lakes Dragaway opens up next weekend here, but weather is looking like rain all week.

Dang I need to loose weight maybe this pants thing is another sign. :larf:

I figured stuff would show up that needed attention its really what testing is about. Just wanted to get a little track time. Hopefully next Friday if things work out.

Truck spunds good! Spray it with a 300shot to lose 500lbs 😄

You cant screw around with shifter cable angles and bracket much at all, it will never be right you can burn up the clutches or worse screw the motor up whem it hangs between gears

If your cables in the correct bracket hole and its all installed as should be youll prob meed to check the lever in the trans that grabs the detent

If the cables off and it rolls youll hear the detent trying to grab zing! 😄
