Woes with a 2004.5 LLY Dmax repeated P0089 Fuel pressure regulator codes.

Putting the stethoscope on the other truck ain't helping your ECM grounds.

What do you think about pulling fuses to see if the voltage I am seeing on the ground side goes away?
I think it would help narrow down where to look in the harness.

If the grounds were good, they would still read zero volts even with things shorted to them. Fix the ground problem.

Pretty sure I found the ground issue, on the right of the block the ground for the battery and other harness ground were
bolted separately, on the left side they weren't so I separated them and made sure connections were tight and clean.
Checked voltage at ECM ground and `got a big fat zero.

Now it's time to try it again.

Gotta investigate the fuel, not liking how one of the old fuel filters looked when I cut it apart.
I am using GM TP3018 filters and they filter down to 4 micron, hard to fathom the FPRs are getting fucked up
by what is getting past the filter.

I already emptied the tanks once, might be doing it again to be safe.

Get some algeacide in it.

Get some algeacide in it.

I am seeing too much shit in the fuel, I am gonna pull the tank, not taking any chances.

How do think I should clean the tank, I think you mentioned nooks an crannies in the old DRP thread on this.
I have a pressure washer, should I go at it with that?

Best bet, if you have a local radiator shop, have them steam it out. Water won't dissolve the contamination, nor will water based cleaners. If you don't have other options, I've used this stuff https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001HWY7UE/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_SEX66VNA4GR1SC0491Y2?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 with good success. Getting the tank steamed is a good option, because it will open up the pores in the tanks surface, and help it to release the contamination. If you choose to pressure wash, you aren't getting around the tank baffles very easily, but using a heated pressure washer will help. As a workaround, you can turn down your home hot water heater to about 150 degrees, and use it to feed the pressure washer. Any higher, you need a hose rated for the temperature.

Got the tank out, doesn't look too bad, I should be able to just hose it out.
But the fucking pickup/sending unit, what the fuck, it's brand new, only been in there about a year.
Fucking Delpi junk.
I ordered a new one, $160 down the drain

FUCK YOU CHYNA

So what I thought was a legit Delphi part isn't, it's fucking chyna knock off.
Got the rear tank out and that sender looks fine (changed both senders at the same time)
The same gunk was on the rear sender but it wiped right off.
Cleaned out the rear tank it was half as bad as the front.
Ordered a new sender from Rockauto, when it shows up I can put the bitch back together.

AGAIN FUCK YOU CHYNA AND FUCK THE ASSHOLES THAT SELL THEIR JUNK ASS FUCKING SHIT.

So, what's the verdict?

Yep, that's why I buy almost anything to do with a diesel straight from the dealer, those parts never fail. There is so much counterfeit shit out there it's not worth the chance to buy OEM parts online. I'm doing a 6.0 Ford right now that somebody loaded it up with Dorman and other Chinese shit, if they would have used OEM parts it wouldn't be here now costing $5k. Chinese shit sure is sweet on the lips to buy be stings down the road.

Now it's got some kind of hard starting issue, like air in the system. Left me stranded and wouldn't start.
Got a ride home, went back next day and it fired right up. No codes present.
Comparing the filter head between mine and a buddy's, mine doesn't seem to hold pressure.
His holds even after sitting overnight.
I ordered a new GM filter head, just waiting on time to put it on.

This is gonna be the $100000 20 year old duramax we see on YouTube

The rebuild kit for the filter head is about 20 bucks.

You make time to work on it yet?

New GM filter head is on, drove it a few times to the dump, no issues.
Pulled a long hill to 80 mph and a steady 15lbs of boost no issues.
Not driving it much on account of Diesel being $6.49 a gallon. FJB
