Scrapping Kinda Sucks

I took the free Jeep axle and 4 steel wheels to the local yard. 280 lbs. - $30.80 cash money.

Wheels are now $1.55/lb. in ESL.
50 wheels.
1,280 lbs.
$1,984 cash money.

Good payday. :)

Last weekend , i caught a glimpse of a neighbors house off a side street as i passed and he had a truck and trailer backed up with tires galore all over the front of his house. I wondered if he was a scrapper or disposal service. Looked like the truck and trailer was loaded and he had at least another load laying along the side of the trailer just as tall as what was stacked in the trailer. I need to find a place to get rid of some old tires and thought about stopping but then thought they may get the wrong idea of me stopping and asking especially if someone else makes a call
.
Its been happening lately as Karen seems to be getting around for small shit. Neighbor had 3 bags of sweet gum balls they had cleaned out of their yard and had sitting behind their fence with the trash waiting for yard waste day. They got a violation for those bags and a ladder they had laying in their backyard against the house.

We've had/have some pretty rundown ugly houses to look at around here but i'll take that, over someone telling me what to do on my own land.

The vehicles is bout the only thing that i know they can do something kinda bout but easily avoided. Kinda obvious who would complain also.

Oh and my neighbors tree(fast growing hard to kill weed type), that he lets grow into the street. They trimmed it once for him and billed him i think. I gotta ask him if i can trim it again, then he'll do it. Not that care bout my truck, as scrapping is taking it's toll on the paint and of course the Michigan rust started not long ago finally LOL But backing in is getting annoying and he complains bout delivery trucks driving on the grass but they are avoiding the tree

People really need to learn to mind their own f'n business.

If that dude's tree is growing enough into the street to hinder traffic, won't the town just come and trim it again?

It's nice of you to offer to cut it back for the guy, but it isn't your problem to do it - especially for free. Maybe find out how much the town charged, then offer to do it for a bit less.. And get paid in advance.

No he'll do it, if i ask if i can but not if i ask him to ;)

Came the closest to hitting a kid tonight and i had a few run in front of me, while i was putting round a corner before.

Little girl was right off my bumper/fender. Saw them playing at the end of drive on my passenger side. So i idled and went into the other lane. Even saw one little girl lightly shove the other. Then a few secs later, the one took off on her scooter as the other chassed. Right in front of my truck! I stopped right before they got in front of me tho. I yelled(windows down) but not nasty and the mother then called her man(tats, wifebeater n big gauge ear holes) and he came out yelling something at me prob to start some shit but backed off as i got out. Said to him look I'm not trying to be mean but i almost ran that girl over, they need to be more careful. Wish i had more time to explain that i was already going like 15mph and in the other lane but i was blocking traffic that was waiting.

Kids just don't pay attention and where they were playing, swore they saw me coming, as i was going slow but then bam they shot out right into my path. Never assume they see you.

Almost called it for the night, shocked me more than them.

Damn, dude.. What a worst case scenario that could have turned into. Glad you and the kiddos are all ok.

Monday was payday. :)
Slow week, not enough deals. :(
Still better than 'working'. (y)

28 wheels.
780 lbs. / $1.55/lb.
$1,209 cash money.

The yard put in an atm machine for payouts. They put it inside a small portable room and only one customer is allowed inside at a time. There is a man in there to assist, answer questions, and (I was told) to make sure no one fucks with the machine. It's a much quicker process than waiting for the dock foreman to count everyone out. A very welcome improvement.

The yard i ffrequently used has the atm i love it

Today was payday. :)
Another kinda quiet week.
Not complaining, though.

37 wheels (a lot of 15s from the 80s/90s - low weight)
920 lbs.
$1,426 cash money.

So I got paid cash and check today and put it all in one envelope. I stopped to deposit the check and left the envelope with $1,000 cash in it on the deposit slip counter. I didn't realize it until I got home. Went back to the bank and there it was, right where I left it. What a relief! It's good living in a place where things are slower. If I was in a city, that envelope would have been long gone.

You should keep track of what you spend, buying all the wheels, other cost(blades, electricity) and of course fuel/mileage.

I use to know a guy who'd buy cars to flip quick and make a few hundred. But adding up parts and time, he was making less than his job normal rate, not even picking up picking up OT.

People are bad at math.

When I've bought new tires in the past I had to pay a tire disposal fee. Maybe it depends on location but I think you'd be working for negative equity in California after fees LOL

I have a place outside of town that takes scrap tires for free.
Without that spot, I wouldn't be able to do this.

I'm surprised anyone has two nickels to rub together in California.. Regardless of what they do for a living.
