Scrapping Kinda Sucks

I'm out of scrap around the yard so I just need to grab the stuff as I see it on the road
Staying active is key to older age I believe ;) Scrap isn't a dream job or gonna make most of us rich but it's staying productive.

[edit] Look up/google your local "townships' trash schedules ;)

Hell yes it is. The recliner, and the remote, are the f'n devil. When I lost my job in January, I gained about 30 pounds. Since I been doing this wheel hustle, I dropped most of it. I love when it's warm out and I'm moving/cutting wheels. Dripping sweat, and having sore muscles makes me happy.

This is the inside of one of the PAX run flat wheels I cut today. Interesting concept - total failure. It was cheaper for our customers to buy a totally new wheel/tire package for their minivans than it was to replace the PAX Michelins. Wrapped around the wheel is a hard plastic hoop that supports a flat tire. I had to cut it out (PITA) due to the interference fit.. The bare wheels are in fact 38 lbs. each. If you see them for sale, buy them!

:ROFLMAO: Swear i need to stop talking to people. Hermit forever :)

Talking to this dude i know, bout my scrap hoard clean up plan. And just was like, let me know if you hear anything, not that i expected him but wanted him to feel like i respect him(type you gotta play to their ego some). That was a mistake, people love to start shit. Not that I'm worried. Not my first time dealing with it and won't be last. They can keep an eye on me forever, last time it was a decade before i cleaned it up LOL Just gotta rem, all people love drama and suck!

I only brought it up because it's what I WANT to do ;)

I do not remember, does the scrap yard ask for your SS# ?
They don't ask for SSNs at the two yards I go to.
They only want your DL.

DL is kinda the same, though.
Everyone's DL is linked to their SSN.

I doubt the yards can use DLs to get SSNs.
Only the state/feds would be able to get that from your DL.

What a shitshow. I'm too old for this shit, I need a garage and a tire machine.

I *think* I cut 48 tires today, I kinda lost track.
I agree on the garage and tire machine.

Seems to me you are throwing away a lot of potential profit with cutting up some of those tires. If you could dismount and sell the good used ones, which there appears to be many, you could increase your income. Don't have to be a tire shop and install and balance them, just sell them as is on MP. A lot of meat left on the bone there.

bought a machine on market place. I taught him how to use it. And got him a nice compressor another friend was selling. It’s nice to mount and dismount my own tires again. I don’t trust new gen to have patience. Especially with race wheels.

You're absolutely right. Tons of money is being lost.

I was gonna put 12x12 or 14x14 shed in front of the house but the town said no. It would be too close to the line. I have no back yard.

I'm always looking for a garage to rent. When I find one, they want a fortune - or it's a shack with no electric. I live in a very small town so they are few and far between.

What bout room for an enclosed trailer? I know some that mount a tire machine in one ;) Extra work and would need some GOOD diy power cable. Still no clue what you got to work with or could figure out.

I love this little town. They are hella strict on keeping it neat and tidy, and I'm absolutely ok with that.

They got nit-picky over me putting a brand new stick built shed out front that would match the house perfectly. I wasn't looking to put some HD $300 tin can metal pos out there that would rust out and look like crap in 6 months.

I'm not putting an enclosed trailer on the lawn indefinitely. That is about as trailer-trash as front yard swimming pool and flamingo statues.

I went to pick up some Jeep wheels today and the guy offered me this axle assembly.
It's from a 80s/90s 2wd Cherokee/Comanche. I don't know if these are desirable or not.
One interesting thing is that it has a manual steering box.

I posted it on MP hoping someone will get it out of my truck. This thing is heavy as hell, way too heavy to be lifting it in and out of the bed.

That dude 'box' from YB came to mind as I was looking at this. His Jeep was/is cool as hell.
