I hung up the phone and tilted the cab, and nearly shit myself...
this is going to be the worst thing ever, this side of hell....

Back in the 70's had a nosecone bearing fail on the front driving rear on my twin screw International. Made it in to a Skelly truckstop in Pocatella, Idaho. Had an oversize rock truck on my lowboy, going to Alaska. No IHC dealers anywhere close, but always carried the tools to fix shit my self. Pulled the driveshaft and axles, drained the gear oil in a garbage bag. Pulled the nosecone off first, then the intermediate section, then rigged a chain and pipe over the frame, with a binder to swing the main carrier out. Had to remove the main carrier with the ring and pinion, to get all the broken bearing pieces out of the housing and axle tubes.
Had everything laid out on the trailer deck, other truck drivers would walk by, shaking their heads.
Luckily there was a KW dealer with in walking distance, and they had one of the nicest, smartest parts guys ever. He ordered in all the parts I needed, he found everything I needed at 3 IH dealers in Twin Falls, SLC, and Idaho Falls. He must have felt sorry for my dumbass, he even let me use their company pickup to go to the bus station when my parts came in, and also haul my nosecone to their shop to have my bearings pressed.
Got it all put back together, rolled it down to the truckstop garage and got it filled with gear oil, and was on my way.
Nothing like that guy pictured, but the things you have to do to make a livin' sometimes..........

Plus I'm a cheap fuk. I hate paying someone to do something I can fix myself.
