Holy Shit! I'm sore/stressed just lookin' at the pictures! I've always been a fan of 65/66 Impala's, the first BBC powered car I ever rode in was a 425hp/396, '65 SS Impala, 4-speed car, (in 66/67) great memories of it. Thanks for sharing the immense amount of work to bring this car back. (P.S. it was a Big Cragars with Blue streaks, raised up, front reversed drop spindle, skinnies BEAST)

glad you enjoyed, Chuck. I have to thank the owner for providing all that. He's a good dude, but sadly, has no interest in joining us. Sometimes I wonder if it's not a wise choice.

I had a bunch of 65-70 Chevy's back in the day, 1965's are the nicest looking.

One thing I remember is the steering was often not great, some wandered badly.

Luckily, an old timer pointed out the alignment specs were often 0 or neg caster.

All they needed was some positive caster and then they steered great.

Something to remember as you get your white 1965 on the road.

Some guys will only align to factory specs and usually that's no good.

Also, PG/ manual trans. cars had 1 pair of trans. cross member brackets.

T-400's had 2 sets welded on the frame, the 2nd set were further back.

Finally, the driveshafts could be problematic on fast cars.

They're longer than ideal and can whip in the center at high speeds.

I twisted off 2 going through the lights on my 1967, 427 2 dr. sedan.

It was not a pretty sight and my T-400 case got busted each time.

I had to get a custom driveshaft made to handle the whipping.

Older Chevy's ran 2 pc. driveshafts and 1971 went to long tail shafts.

1965-70 shared chassis design and all driveshafts were too long.
