Using a stock internal 230k mile LQ4 suburban, we put Texas Speed’s new BFD CHOP MONSTER 6.0 cam to the test and wind up making way more power than expected.

Vid isn't working for me. 124 wheel hp over stock? Surely it was more than just a cam swap.

Cam swap and hot tune might gain 124 using the factory 325 hp factory number as a base number
it does seem a little high, but maybe not

With just a cam swap that seems a bit high........ I could see a cam and head swap doing it. I think one of the weekend TV car shows did that a few years ago, was pretty cool. But........ Good for a car, but not for towing with a truck, we need a ton more of low end grunt, can't two above 4000rpm for a long time.

I got some clown telling me they ran 10.30's @130mph with a mild 6.0 build, fully ported heads, huge cam and 160K on the shortblock, sure don't sound like a mild build to me. I am not buying this one unless the car is like 2500lbs.

It's possible but there is probably a little more to it than that!

They can run those numbers with a good cam, if everythings done right around that including the tune, and willing to spin it high, doesnt have to be a featherweight car.

That's an old list above. And mostly N/a 5.7's only, only a few 6.0's on that list. Lots more has been done since then

zzracer on ls1tech.. He's been 10.20's with a n/a sbe ls2 @ 3400lbs, and only 11:1 cr. It's all in the total combination, how good the heads are, and camshaft.

quote: "Ls2 sbe, ported /shaved 799 heads, 236/242 cam, fast 102, 1 7/8 texas speed long tubes , custom y pipe with flowmaster 3" to 4 merge with a 4" bullet muffler. Performabuilt 60e, yank 4000 converter. 8.8 hybrid rearend with 4.11 gears on 28" et streets, vikings on all 4 corners, bmr extreme arb. I ported the heads and done all the work and Joncr96z does the tuning. 3400 plus Race weight yesterday scales were closed so don't know exactly."

Quote: "We were in the same spot a few years ago , Had a 383 SBC wanted to go faster , decided to go LS just for parts availability and it does not seem to take much to make them run . We started out with a 6.0 block ,over time we bought used heads , found a good deal on a intake . With the old 383 best E.T. was a 11:21 @ 119 . So far only had it out a few times best pass has been a 10:32 @ 128 car weighs 3250 with driver. We are N/A for now , its comes down to what you want out of it and how fast you want to go . We went with the Holley Terminator X since we are port fuel injected . But a guy we race with has the MSD LS Box and runs a carb . Lots of different ideas and set ups to choose from ."
